June 1, 2008 - Another great AQHA show (except for the weather!) and Neko gets her first WESTERN win at an AQHA show in her bosal. (her first time riding western at an AQHA show also). Jake and Neko again both brought home points! Jake was great as always-how lucky are we that we expect so much from him that we don't even mention him when Neko rides? If Neko can get half as consistent and successful as Jake, we'll be tickled! Click here to go to SHOW RESULTS for more.

Jake & Corinne coming to YOUR mailbox in July!!! We got the call today - America's Horse was extremely pleased with Jake and Corinne's photos and have chosen them to grace the COVER of America's Horse July 2008 Issue!!!! Great article but makes Jake sound like all he does is buck...make sure you read last year's JOURNAL article below and check out all of Jake's win photos!! Jake is so consistent at the shows, but it was funny because I had someone say they wouldn't want to ride him because he was so 'bad'. Guess she should have read the Journal article first! Everyone who knows Jake knows he is all business at the show. The beginners ride him just fine too! See the AQHA home page link here -Jake's pic is bottom left
Check back for Kahlee & Honey's first show - tough NAHA last Sunday - and she brought home two blues, three red and three yellow! Check back for pictures and their page. Jake won the jackpot halter and the showmanship, and several others and then lounged for the day. Honey won the pony halter, down and back and placed second and third in her pleasure and eq, third in trail and third in barrels. That pony just gets better and better. Watch for Kahlee and Honey at AQHA shows next year!!! And we're going to have them ready for showmanship very soon. Bonnie's been doing a lot of work getting Honey ready and doing a great job!!
Also watch for Jake's America's Horse TV episodes on RFD-TV
Congratulations Corinne & Jake and Corinne & Neko AQHA Region 5 July 2008 Reserve Champion Novice Amateur Barrels Reserve Champion Novice Amateur Pole Bending Reserve Champion Amateur Pole Bending Top Fives in Working Hunter, Hunter Hack, 2nd in his beginner rider western pleasure Neko Top Ten Amateur Showmanship Jake 4th and Neko 7th in trail Numerous other placings and prizes - check back for more! It POURED for two days and even though Jake detests working in the slop, he did a great job. First class of the show - working hunter in ankle deep slop during pouring rain. The jump heights were not lowered and the oxers and combinations stayed in the pattern. Congrats Jake and Corinne for not only competing under such conditions, but placing and having a great ride! Jake had never even seen a roll top or coop but never blinked. The show was stopped several times due to heavy thunderstorms. Jake didn't go in equitation over fences as the footing following the re-start of the show didn't look good so we passed. Didn't have quite the show we had hoped for as far as having an emergency vet call at midnight for Neko and ended her show (she'll be fine, she had something in her eye and it swelled shut) ) and truck problems forced us to leave early so someone could haul the trailer home, but for what we did get to do, had another great show! Accomplished the goals we had for the show though - Neko debuted on a tough trail course (the same course the Amateur and Open used) and placed 7th - good ride for her first time ever. Corinne 'attacked' the big jump courses and had awesome rides. THANKS DEBBIE & MICHAEL FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT! Thanks Dr. Hoffman, the only vet I've ever known who was on time almost to the minute she told us she'd be there and had Neko feeling better in a couple of hours. Now she's as good as new and will be preparing for her maturity class in a couple of weeks. Had a lot of fun , especially with the "gaming" crowd when everyone was cheering each other on. That's what its all about!!

Congratulations Again!! 8/2-3/08 AQHA show NWest Virginia Corinne & Jake - FIRST under BOTH JUDGES - Nov Am Showmanship - Class of 16 Corinne & Neko - 2nd and 3rd - Class of 18 in AMATEUR Showmanship Jake also brought home points/placing in: Trail, Western Pleasure, Hunter Hack (Another First!!) Horsemanship, Equitation, English Pleasure and in Amateur Hack. Corinne and Neko also placed in her Western Class!! Neko didn't get to ride in her english class because Jake rode in the amateur jump classes and we didn't have time to go get her ready. Record 10 1/2 points one show for Corinne. Rained bad on Friday night but then weather was nice enough to show outside. PS -I had overheard a person saying it was "Easy" to place in WV even though this person never has and doesn't place AQHA ANYWHERE . Actually they have trouble at little open shows. Even funnier, they must not realize its the SAME PEOPLE we show with at Harlansburg and Tri-State. We just prefer Philippi because they have a covered pen so your weekend isn't ruined if it rains. We do go to Harlansburg & Tri-State AND STILL PLACE THE SAME, but only if we know the weather is good. Now if those places would get a covered pen, we'd save a ton of gas money!! That's why we travel to places like Virginia and New Jersey. (BIG AQHA shows and still place and WIN....) Your show clothes and tack aren't ruined in the bad weather AND you don't take a chance pulling tendons jumping in bad footing. Oh yeah, our little $1,500 horses do OK at a little show called "The Congress" too....I don't know why some people are like that. We just smile and walk away. Our record speaks for itself but if you want us to come out to where you show so you can see for yourself, just let us know, we'll be there. Its just more fun if we all worked together to learn & cheered each other on, don't you think? Its nice to win, but lots better to have fun and most important to keep progressing...Had a good time - Brian Himes did a FANTASTIC job singing and entertaining Saturday night - had us all up and dancing and carrying on until late. Had fun with Andrea (now known as Pebbles) and company (as always). Sam looks better each time we see her (though she has always been gorgeous). Congratulations on her marriage in two weeks! Had fun with Kim and Trish and Michael and Debbie, Darrin, Brenda & family, Jeff, John and Brenda Ackerman, good to see Don and Terry and Becky. Congrats Bruce Henderson - two firsts first time out! Ellen was proud as a peacock. We are lucky to always have fun and always have a good show!!!
Neko in her western class! Next year Neko will be Corinne's all arounder. We are going to free lease Jake when we find the right person so he can keep showing & winning too while we concentrate on the younger ones.
8/9-10/08 NWV QHA Show - Another great weekend! Corinne put on 17 points in the last two shows! Jake and Corinne again won showmanship of 16...and Neko was 5th and 6th in Amateur of 18 with Corinne making a big mistake..Corinne and Jake also won equitation (1st and 2nd), won hunter hack under both judges, won working hunter and got two thirds in trail. Neko was reserve in the 4 year old futurity...Neko heard the announcer click the microphone and stopped dead from her canter a couple of strides before the announcer actually said walk, please. Had a lot of fun- thanks for a fun weekend to Andrea, Ashley, Ivy, Debbie, Darren. Madison always has a smiley face. Lot of fun people at Phillipi and its really nice when everyone is cheering everyone on. Looking forward to the next show. Eaton Clark (Seth and Amber) are a lot of fun and have a good group. Birdie is working hard to get ready for her futurity. Congratulations Rufie and Kylie! 2nd and 4th in their first showmanship class! Rufie is beautiful as always and her family adores her. We didn't even know she was there - I happened to look up and saw a horse walking by and said wait! that's my Rufie! and it was. They had a great ride too, they need to get a little more practice on diagonals but other than that, looked awesome. We are thinking Jared and Jake would be a good fit next year to show together, maybe even the youth show if they work hard and wouldn't the congress 13 and under be fun (Jared - you will have to work REALLY hard!). Jared and Jake get along so well, its like they've been riding together for a long time. Kathleen will still get to do the jumping. And Emily and Neko started riding together and boy do they look good. We are so lucky that our horses are so consistent. Neko was out with an injury the whole beginning of the year and is now back in stride. Looking forward to really working on her jumping this winter. If her AQHA courses weren't 2'9", we'd probably try it now, we just took it slow waiting for her to get 100% again. Maybe if we don't go to the Turkey Circuit after congress we can get her out to a hunter show. She is going to work hard on western this winter too to be Corinne's all arounder for next year so Brenda will get to ride and show after sitting this year out. Even if we don't place again the rest of the year, this year has been AWESOME!!!! If Birdie is half the horse Jake and Neko turned out to be, she'll be a winner too. MORE HERE

Looking for someone who plans to show to free lease Jake for next year - must want to do all around (though you don't have to do every class Jake can do). Must show some AQHA. If you can find someone offering you a horse like this - currently winning- then you better jump on it! Can ride w/us to the shows if need be or w/your trainer. We don't want Jake to sit home while we concentrate on the young ones next year. Nov or Youth who'd like to show some circuits or maybe congress preferred. He also likes to trail ride, rein, and team pen. See more about Jake below!
